Last week we got to take the leukemia kids that are in the out patient phase of treatment on a field trip. We went to a computer technology workshop where kids can go and learn to do all kinds of fun stuff on computers. They also played games and made crocodiles. We then went and had a huge Chinese lunch. A great time was had by all. It is great to see the kids being normal, instead of in a hospital bed!

I'm still visiting the leukemia kids at Xin Hua hospital every Monday.
Love those translations!

So many photos so little time!

Finally I am finishing vacation photos! We went to a great and intersting museum called the Sanxingdui Museum. It has artifacts that predate the Egyptian empire. A lot of bronze maskes, and jade.

Photos around the boat again. We ate at the same table every meal, like most cruises. We had two other couples, one with a baby, who sat with our family. One couple was from England and the other from Germany but it turns out we're all living in the same area in Shanghai!

Random pictures from our vacation! Boat locks at the three gorges dam, a bridge that is not quite finished and a Buddist temple at Feng Du, one of the stops on the cruise.

More random pictures of us on the whole vacation. (I mentioned my husband took 1500, right?)

More Sichuan Opera photos! Musicians and really cool hand shadows.

Sichuan Opera

While in Chengdu we went to the Sichuan Opera. It wasn't really an opera, it was a cool, live variety show with some Chinese opera. The first picture shows acrobatic tea pouring from special long snouted pots. The second is an opera singer

In Chengdu (the largest city in China), we went to the panda research and breeding center. They have giant pandas (that really aren't giant) and red pandas (just like we have at the Indianapolis zoo). They are sooooo cute and act an awful lot like dogs. I think the pamphlet said they have about 40 giant pandas there. The second highest amount anywhere. Most of our family had their picture taken with a cute little one year old red panda. It was very light, maybe ten or 12 pounds and the rest hair! It was very soft and cuddly.

These are sub-adult pandas who were happily enjoying breakfast on Saturday May 5,2007. They are as cute as the pictures make them look!

Panda Pictures

Okay, everyone is asking to see the panda pictures, so I'm going to go out of sequence! We really loved the "panda kindergarden". We watched this one year old group for a long time. The girls got to pet a "sub-adult" about a 2 yr.old or 3 yr. old panda while it was sitting on a bench, munching away on bamboo.

Fun and weird translations.

More interesting translations!
Read safety rule number one carefully...
My question is, if you have a serious deformity, how are you going to get up the mountain without the chairlift?

Lots of interesting sights along the river. It is a major transportation route.
